Hi there, I’m David Pechon, Jr. (pronounced pay-shawn)
I started in information technology with a six year enlistment in the United States Army with the MOS 74B, Information Systems Operator/Analyst, in 1997. Since then I worked mostly in the financial services sector which included a mortgage loan servicing company as well as a couple banks that used to be based in Louisiana.
I’ve had a long tumultuous career in information technology mostly in the financial services sector. I have the dubious honor of working for three banks that have been taken over by the FDIC. Not to any fault of my own, just unlucky I suppose. Later on I worked for a few value added resellers from regional to national. Today I work for Nutanix, a global enterprise cloud software company that is amazing to work for and happy to be here.
I currently reside in the small town of Ponchatoula, Louisiana which is roughly the same distance from either Baton Rouge or New Orleans. I have two children who I hope will follow in my footsteps. At least I know my son wants to be an engineer. He loves technology as much as I do and has even taken an interest in music. My daughter’s aspirations change as she’s young but who knows she certainly has the potential to follow in my footsteps. Either way, I love being a dad and sharing my experiences with them.
I’ve been a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan thanks to my mother who is a native Chicagoan. Every once in a while I’ll play video games with my son. When I have the time I like to fish. I bowl in a league on Friday nights with friends. Finally, I’ve been a calligrapher since I was about 12 years old.
Three things about me, one isn’t true:
- One time in my life I did step foot into North Korea and lived to tell the tale.
- I was on the Today show once.
- I was voted hottest IT professional in a 1998 issue of Teen Beat.
